That’s why a lot of your so-called friends disappear after a while. They don’t need you anymore so they leave. You know someone’s a true friend when they stick around even when they have no use for you. Mom: Did you win or lose?

Me: We lost, Pacifica won, Grove is 2nd, and we’re third.

Mom: If you guys were losing then why bother coming first place.

Thanks mom, just the encouragement I need. I skipped out on Sadies for Psych Bowl and you stood there thinking I was doing something stupid. You’re right, I’m the loser. 

On the way home,

Mom: Your driving is horrible, don’t think you can drive as fast as the others. 

Me: I’m going 20-25 mph, that’s what the instructor told me to do.

Mom: You’re not like your sister, she’s so much more patience than you are. She would spend days and hours practicing unlike you. 

Thanks mom, I’ve only been driving for a week. Is there anything else you would like to add? I would love to hear you criticizing me.

Oh wait! Mom, did I mention I also got in Pomona! But it probably doesn’t matter because you’re just gonna compare me again. It’s okay, no biggie because it’s not that big of a deal when you’re the first person I want to tell when I received the acceptance mail.

I remember reading this book when I was in elementary. I was only drawn to the pretty cover and silly pictures that the the book have. Never in my life would I thought I would come across this book again and find it so meaningful. Every sentences, every paragraphs starts to make sense now and I cannot appreciate enough how I can use it to apply to the future. The journey of life and its challenges awaits me and in less than 2 months, I will be walking down, at my graduation, and that is when the adventure truly begin. :’) It has finally FINALLY hit me, how exciting but at the same time, how frightening!
